Introducing the Breville Oracle Jet

Breville recently introduced the Oracle Jet, an advanced espresso machine priced at $2,000. Released in September following its preview at the spring 2024 SCA Trade Show, the Oracle Jet has been tested by reviewers since early August. Breville’s Oracle series, launched in 2013, has continually aimed to blend the simplicity of super-automatic espresso machines with the craftsmanship of traditional setups. With features like 58mm portafilters, precise volumetric controls, and high-quality steaming, the Oracle machines stand out by automating key steps while preserving the integrity of a traditional espresso-making experience.

The new Oracle Jet builds on this foundation with Breville's latest Thermojet heating technology, using dual heating elements for quick transitions between brewing and steaming. While the machine lacks the dual boiler system of previous models, its design allows for a seamless switch between tasks, an improvement enabled by the Thermojet system. With this new model, Breville has also introduced the Baratza M2 grinder, designed with stepless adjustments for precise and consistent grinding.

In terms of design, the Oracle Jet aligns with Breville's updated aesthetic, featuring smoother curves and a polished look. The machine includes accessories like a steam pitcher and knock box but omits a tamper and pressurized baskets. Additionally, the milk-frothing system, MilQ, provides high-precision temperature control, adaptable for plant-based milk options, and is one of Breville's most advanced frothing systems to date.

A significant highlight of the Oracle Jet is its smart operating system, which supports over-the-air firmware updates for ongoing feature enhancements. Users can choose between full-assist mode, ideal for beginners, and an advanced mode, which allows seasoned baristas to fine-tune settings. Breville has incorporated interactive tutorials and customization options for drink recipes, further enhancing user experience. The machine also introduces "cold drink" options and other drink innovations through its regular updates.

Notably, Breville has taken steps to make the Oracle Jet’s packaging eco-friendly, using plant-based materials and minimizing plastic, reflecting a commitment to sustainability.

Priced at $2,000, the Oracle Jet represents a significant investment, but its advanced features—from the dual Thermojet system to the high-end UI—justify its price point. The machine is available directly from Breville, with additional purchase options on Amazon and 1st in Coffee, along with possible promotions for added value.
